About the speaker
Ven. Handapangoda Nivathapa Thero began his journey with the difficult decision to leave behind his career as an aeronautical engineer and a wealth of materialistic luxury in the UK, to search for something greater. Years on, he is now sought after by many around the world as the Guru Thero of Jethavanarama Monastery, Sri Lanka. Ven. Nivathapa Thero continues to provide both mentorship and guidance to nearly 150 monks and 100 Anagārikas resident at the monastery as well as the 120 female Anagārikās who reside nearby. Over 2500 people visit the monastery every week to listen to his teachings and well over a million subscribers follow them online across all monastery’s channels. It is with his leadership that the monastery has expanded its horizons, working on projects such as a rehabilitation centre and a Buddhist International School etc. all in efforts to benefit the wider community. Respected by millions from all over the world Ven. Nivathapa Thero is a beacon of light gifting both wisdom and truth to each person he meets.
